Re: Common ground
Hopefully the other wouldn’t get in trouble with his schedule because he wanted to hang out for a while. Fred realised it would’ve been better if he had sent notice of his visit beforehand. Which was kind of hard, considering he had only known he was coming over himself just yesterday. For once, it was calm at work. One would think there were enough aurors to keep the isles safe. The area wasn’t that big, compared to his colleagues in Europe. It would help if they had more colleagues, but then they would have to drop the specifications. That would be a horrible idea. They only allowed the best of the best because their opponents usually spent years perfecting their skills as well.
Lev was a smart man though. He wouldn’t just agree with his suggestion if he knew it would take away much needed time to grade those test, right? ”Who says that”, He replied quickly, getting into a defensive mode. Anyone insulting his dear friend would face his anger for sure. ”Who knows, maybe I can help grading those tests. How hard can it actually be?” He then grinned. ”Not that I mean to imply your job is easy though”, He added right after. Else he would be the one insulting Lev, and it would be quite hard to take revenge on himself, wouldn’t it?

”Who says that”, responded Frederick immediately. Lev shrugged and softly shook his head, he wasn't going to say names. Knowing the young man he could never predict what would happen or be said. A little too risky if you asked him. "Some fellow professors and students, not a big deal." He kind of hoped that was the end of this subject. Frederick wasn't here often and he would like to spend the time he was in a little more cheerful manner. ”Who knows, maybe I can help grading those tests. How hard can it actually be?” Lev looked at the young man's grin from the corners of his eyes. He had no idea how annoyingly difficult checking tests could be. ”Not that I mean to imply your job is easy though”, Frederick added. Lev shook his head and took the first test from the pile, handing it to the auror. "This one looks more like Russian than English to me, you try deciphering it." The handwriting of some students was worse than just bad. It was unreadable. Some tests took so much time, simply because he couldn't see what was written.

Re: Common ground
It actually hurt him to know some people dared to talk badly about his friend. He was a very pure person at his core. Fair, he had a dark past. But that was where that belonged, in the past. He, a damn auror, of all people, had never distrusted him or thought he was a bad influence. How would anyone even dare? Lev was smart enough not to give him any names though. But it was a big deal. The answer gave away he wasn’t really up to talk about it though. So Fred only hummed and dropped the subject. He would not push him any further. Instead, he asked how hard it was to grade some tests. Maybe he could help? It couldn’t be that complicated.
His assumption was wrong, apparently. Lev pushed one of the tests in his hands. He quickly skipped through it. At first sight it did indeed look like a whole different language. ”I thought you were fluent in Russian though?” He chuckled at the other. ”Oh! Preparing them for the boggart banishing spell, are you?” He said triumphantly as he finally recognised some words written down here. How exciting.
